Thekkady Lake

Thekkady Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the 27 tiger reserves in India, is spread over an area of 777 sq.km. Situated in Idduki district, it is one of the most beautiful and picturesque place in Kerala.

Today it has turned in to one of the favourite location for cinematography with its scenic beauty. Thekkady lies 4000-5000 ft above sea-level on the Western Ghats.

Thekkady Wildlife Sanctuary

The sanctuary showcases a large variety of flora and fauna like deers, monkeys, tiger, elephant herds and others. The place can be viewed best by taking a boat ride in the lake surrounding the sanctuary. Partially submerged tree-trunks can be seen in this charming artificial lake. Adventurous activities like trekking are also among the options available visitors.

Kumly, Kurisumala, Murukady, Chellarkoil, Vandanmedu, and Panchalimedu are the main tourist attractions around Thekkady. The nearest Railway station is Kottayam and the nearest airport is Cochin International Airport 190 km away. Road transport is available for the travellers to reach to reach Thekkady.
